On April 6th, 1917, the United States of America declared war and entered World War 1. The U.S. has decided to join allies with Britain, France, and Russia to fight together during the war. More than 2 million U.S. soldiers fought on battlefields in France, however many American were not in favor of the U.S. entering the war. World War 1 stared when disagreements in Europe over land led to the assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand of Austria by a Serbian zealot on June 28th, 1914. This then started war on July 28th, 1914. What led America to join the war was when a German submarine sank British passengers, which killed 128 Americans on the boat. War led to many casualties, and it has changed America today. For example, women finally got the right to vote with the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920, and the U.S. had responsibility to fund the reconstruction efforts in many European countries. World War 1 ended on June 28th, 1919.
